Our soapstone wood stoves have a cast iron insert in order to maximize efficiency and heat retention. All of our soapstone wood stoves are surrounded with an average of 1500 lbs of 60mm (2 3/8”) thick soapstone slabs. Other “soapstone wood stoves” available in the market, are only surrounded with a very small amount of 30mm(1 ¼”) soapstone, which is only decorative and not enough mass to hold and radiate heat.

The soapstone we use to surround the wood stove is imported from Brazil and India, and manufactured in New Jersey. A Soapstone surrounded wood stove, is a great option for those who want a lower cost option to a soapstone masonry heater. You can get similar heating benefits and a beautiful natural soapstone look.
